The objective of the Project is to turn the concept of university ranking into reality in Hungary. While in the past there were several attempts to create such ranking lists, the lack of adequate financial and scientific support blocked the effort. In 2002, EUROPE Ltd succeeded in mobilizing financial resources from the private sector for this project such as Sanoma WSOY (Finland), one of the largest European publishers. EUROPE Ltdperformed the first Hungarian higher education ranking. It was published in the weekly economic magazine of the publisher, Figyelo. EUROPE Ltd developed a suitable method to evaluate and rank Hungarian higher education institutions (universities and colleges). In the first year, the exercise was carried out in the area of Economics. In 2002 17 universities and 26 colleges formed economists in 22 cities of Hungary, thus the work required considerable data collection effort. The higher education institutions were ranked according to 50 quantitative criteria.

EUROPE Ltd provided the project management of the project. Given the originality of the project considerable work had to be invested into the initialization phase. This included - inter alia convincing decision makers in the Ministry of Education collecting advise from the top leaders of the higher education institutions
During the implementation phase: elaboration of a practicable ranking methodology preparation of data questionnaires maintain Help desk and Hot line support for institutions to be able to fill the questionnaire preparation of ranked lists (8 different lists) writing detailed analysis in two volumes.
